Questions About Our Salon and Hair Stylists

Q: I’ve heard you’re a cosmetology school. Who will cut my hair?

Our hairstylists are in our cosmetology program working to gain their licensing as professional stylists. They are trained to clearly communicate with all clients that come to their chairs and to make sure that they ask specific questions before getting started.

Some hairstylists in Bloomington IL may take a blind shot when a client says "Just make me look good!", but your stylist will take many different considerations into account and work with you to help you feel confident walking out the door.

We understand that many people are hesitant to go to school for a haircut, but our trainees in Bloomington are aspiring professionals and are expected to behave as such.

We are a great place for someone who wants to treat themselves to additional styling services that are typically not within a comfortable price range. In the Bloomington/Normal area, many salons charge over $100 for coloring women’s hair, and men’s cuts with lining and other styles can easily be over $30 – not here! How long does an appointment take?

You can expect an appointment to take half an hour to 45 minutes for men’s cuts, and around an hour to an hour-and-a-half depending on the type of women’s cut and styling. We have a spacious parking lot on site. Remember that we are located in the center of Bloomington, so plan accordingly when you book an appointment!

Do you accept walk-ins and same-day appointments?

While we encourage you to schedule appointments ahead of time, we do accept walk-ins based on availability. Many of our stylists are only at Hairmasters Institute of Cosmetology when they know they have appointments scheduled, so we suggest you call the morning of or the day before and ask when there will be hairstylists available.
